Berlin Human Rights filmfest to host ‘The Forbidden Strings’

The Human Rights Film Festival Berlin is to host Iranian-Afghan doc ‘The Forbidden Strings’.

The Human Rights Film Festival Berlin (HRFFB) in Germany has been set to screen Iranian-Afghan documentary ‘The Forbidden Strings’.

Afghan filmmaker Hassan Nouri’s doc will be among the competition titles at the 3rd edition of the German festival.

‘The Forbidden Strings’ narrates the story of four young afghan people living in Iran.

They spend their day time working and rehearse their music at nights.

They have the burning passion for performing in front of the audience, so after about six months of rehearsing, they find an opportunity to go on stage in Afghanistan.

Their trip back to the motherland, which they have never seen before, is not easy and the country is not safe for them.

The film, which is a joint production of Iran, Afghanistan and Qatar, has been produced by Iranian film producer Afsaneh Salari.

The doc has been showcased at a number of global events, including the Cinema Verite filmfest in Iran and the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

According to the official website of the HRFFB, the event “shows stories of courageous individuals and communities on both sides of the lens, bears witness to human rights violations and creates a forum to gain new perspectives on our world”.

This year’s edition of the festival will be a hybrid - on and offline - fest slated for September 30 to October 10.
